The value of the viscosity of this CRM is traceable to the basic standard defined by the value of kinematic viscosity of double-distilled water equal to 1,0034 mm2/s or by the value of the dynamic viscosity of water equal to 1,0016 mPa . s at 20 oC; the values have been assumed on the basis of ISO/TR 3666: 1998 (E).
The physical qualities reproduced by the standard are the kinematics and dynamics viscosity. The standards are tested at 20 °C. It is also possible to have standard examples tested at 40 °C, 50 °C and 80 °C depending on the customer's needs.
The viscosity standards are distributed in 250 cm3 bottles.
The viscosity (viscosimetric) standards of liquids are designed for checking viscometres.

The CRM viscosity certificate is issued as a reference material certificate confirming its metrological properties including PCA accreditation symbols, that confirm compliance with the requirements of ISO 17034 for manufacturers of reference materials.
For viscosity reference materials, a reference material certificate for compliance with ISO 17025 can be issued, which shows metrological properties with PCA accreditation symbols based on the signatory status of multilateral EA-MLA and ILAC-MRA agreements on mutual recognition of calibration certificates.
